I believe that a relationship between Jesse and Emma on Mutant X would be a great twist to the show. Just like the little connection between Shalimar and Brennan, Emma and Jesse would make a great couple.
Why? Well, first off, they're both in their early twenties. They're both young and slightly less experienced then Brennan and Shal. This means that they have each other to kind of discover the world, and themselves. Emma is mischievous and Jesse is naive and good-natured. It's a slightly mixed combination, but very functioning. Jesse is a more sincere and honest person while Emma can sometimes be rebellious. Whether Jesse stands with the truth, or Emma brings Jesse over to the wild side for a bit would be the mystery, but the core value of their relationship. They would begin to trust each other and come to learn more.
Both Jesse and Emma have that outward shy appearance with a sense of mystery. In my head, I try to picture their romance and see dim sunlight and fog. It sets the mood of their relationship. Almost perfect. A sense of mystery set from their personalities seems to draw you to them.
How they first met as well seems to make them draw close. When Emma was first taken into Mutant X, she called Jesse a freak and he was somewhat hurt by it. Shortly over time they grew to make friends. They both seem to care for one another when in certain episodes, one would express a shy sort of sympathy to the other. And when love stands, one wouldn't stand in the way of the other.
Jesse and Emma truly represent the beauty and mystery of Smoke on Water.
